Gushing has been charging up all the charts since the season started. Episode 1 was a big shock I think to even the source readers since they turned the ecchi up even compared to the manga. However, leaning into it seems to be paying dividends with attention. By contrast, Chained Soldier has toned it down a bit and has been languishing further down a lot of charts.

I’m an anime only watcher and that sure mirrors my experience. I’ll say it helps that Gushing feels like it’s got a lot of heart beyond the ecchi, while Chained Soldier just feels really bland. I’ve heard the latter hardly does the source material justice so maybe I’ll check it out 🤔

Surprised at Ishura jumping 29 places up.

The first episode was complete trash, it must have got a lot better…

    edit: Or maybe not…

According to the manga readers in /r, it has been slow, but the big payoff is supposed to happen 2 episodes from now.

Too slow, IMO. A lot of decent shows adaptations have been killed lost the audience because the story took too long to get going. I’m looking at you Senyoku no Sigrdrifa…

Yeah Ishura kinda blows. First episode was interesting when the girl hated her savior because of how overpowered he was. Every episode since then has been:

      Randomly drop viewer into conflict

Enemy of the week is tough

OP McCool appears and destroys enemy instantly

There’s no stakes so far so when they all end up fighting I’m not sure I’ll care in the slightest.
