A small recompense for decades of jokes at Mexico’s expense, eh?

I’m all about mocking the American Century of Humiliation brought on by cuts to their food safety system, but in this case isn’t there evidence that the contaminated lettuce was originally sourced from Mexico? I’m not super big on trusting any evidence from the MAGA admin but AFAIK that’s all we’ve got.

In this case It’s less about the source and more about the cuts to FDA/CDC to trace and mitigate. Like it was US-based lettuce that was the problem then obviously there’s be an additional layer of accountability.

in 2024, they had to recall another crop that had E coli which caused more severe disease then self-limiting diarrhea, and resulted in one death. E.coli strains(O15H7) that produces Shiga toxins is pretty dangerous. the crop was oNIONs, that was used by mcdonalds.

seems taylor farms is supplies a majority of the veggies you see in stores. alot of chains seem to sell taylor farm salads, and other vegetables.

Yeah, I don’t trust this administration to not cover it up to save face. No way of knowing what kinds of talks have been happening behind closed doors at the white house.

I’m dumb and/or not following this at all. What does that mean in this context: that they can’t actually say that the lettuce was from Mexico?

Likely it means the farm bribed Trump to call it a false positive to save reputation. They had donated a million to him before.
