I’m kind of surprised by this.

You’d think he would have been popping Ozempic like candy since it came out.

I never thought sanctions and embargos were so all encompassing and effective to such a spectacularly granular degree that it literally effected the despotic leader’s creature comforts and not just their people.

As an example, despite any embargo, I’d expect Putin would be able to get any expensive Kentucky Bourbon he wants flown in via secondary channels while his people suffer.

I know this labels me as a bad person, but I can’t really root for us anymore. We were handed dominion over paradise, but it was never enough, and even now, as the writing is on the wall, most of us lament our plight rather than the innumerable species, different but not inferior to homosapien, living in generational homeostasis that we’re going to take down with us while singing woe is us.

I reject rooting for such a vile home team, merely because it is the home team.

I take infinite solace knowing that while we will decimate surface and shallow water life, even our toolbox of horrors can’t sterilize our mother, and after she’s dealt with us, she will heal in just a couple million years, nothing to her 3.8 billion year old story of life, and paradise will be restored, until the next macro-cancer evolves at least. We weren’t even the first, though we were the first that we know of with a choice. The Carboniferous period gave way to an ice age mass extinction due to trees doing the opposite of what we’re doing, capturing too much carbon before the life that could decompose them efficiently had evolved. This is where much of our lovely coal comes from.

Wasn’t their fault. They were trees. We can do better, we know better, our brightest have been begging us for a century to heed the data, we just won’t stop.

And lots of fauna and flora of actual value will be lost, but neither humans nor their beloved piles of metal and plastic shite will be counted among them.

I’ve legit told my present supervisor that literally works 14 hour days by choice and brags about it that I pity her for it.

Worse, the ones that fully accept the madness proudly, the ones that internalize the toxic your workplace productivity is your life mindset, often end up being the low level management arbiters demanding incoming hires at the very least pretend to do the same, even if they’re screaming inside, hi!

Corporate “culture” is a plague.

Its jargon is designed to encourage self-enslavement and normalize sociopathic behavior.

This right here is why I walked away from my species.

The less help, empathy and respect you need, the more you get.

What a lovely metaphor for the self-created doom our species is sleep walking towards.

We’re patient zero for the world’s current greed disease.

Not only won’t we go along, our purchased government will internationally war against this. Never forget we destabilized the South American continent, a government at a time, to keep their markets open for capitalist exploitation and snuff out any potential examples of an economy that serves its people, as opposed to a society that subsists in service to an economy as it is here and increasingly everywhere.

We’re a big reason the global owner class has so much unelected, unaccountable power that needs to be fought to begin with, our government has spent decades convincing other governments to “turn the bull loose” to open their markets to unchecked capitalist exploitation and betray their people under the promise that their elite can live like gluttonous modern Pharoahs for their betrayal. The UK has fully fallen to this as just one example.

This initiative for all intents and purposes is an attack on the United States and everything its people THAT MATTER, not us, stand for.

I don’t consider it conspiratorial to say, given that it happened within hours the first woman was elected President, that it was more likely than not sending a message of ignorance bucking the idea of women leading, or considering it was cited as likely being a cartel, a message of “don’t think we won’t kill you if you act against our business interests just because you’re a woman.” which considering gender roles and mores are still much more traditional than in the US, might have been a message they felt was needed.

It may not be connected , but if it isn’t, it’s a pretty big coincidence.

The US died under Reagan as anything but a capitalist exploitation farm.

Right-wing peasant ignoramuses are darkly hilariously concerned about preserving the structure of their owner’s money printer and their own subsistence.

To capitalists, a world without private profit, winners with too much, and losers with nothing isn’t a world worth existing.

Greed is the most destructive human impulse, but prudishness still wins handily in the fucking annoying category.

I’m only horrified for all the non-human life we’re continuing to decimate on the way out.

Humans don’t even seem to tolerate one another as we recklessly decimate this world with technologies we’re just smart enough to develop and then immediately use with the same consideration for consequences as a monkey being handed a loaded shutgun, supposedly in humanity’s name.

You want us to survive so we can keep a perpetual underclass subsisting in misery? So we can point fingers and call this group and that nation and this gender and that race the problem over and over and over? We are the problem, sorry. Long term, our self-destruction will be a W for the Earth. It will take millions of years, but our mother will eventually clean up our mess we left behind, and continue on like we never existed.

And from my perspective and decades of observation, that is for the best, including for our “everything will be great, once those humans I don’t like are shown their place” in perpetuity species.
