Really makes one wonder…How many fucking data points do these assholes need telling them we’re too fucking broke for their game and want their heads on pikes?

I look forward to when they’re replaced with Dig Dug to find the hidden Trumpcoin wallet from the bunker with the three corpses inside a serving cart.

Hey! Some of us sociopaths don’t give a fuck about titles, position, and power!
In times of abundance we just happily feign whatever is in the best interest of being able to happily feign, which usually helps out the tribe and that’s why we got to keep making enough babies to pass that along.
Ethics and morality are complex/expensive, no doubt about that. Everything you said (except equating all sociopaths with the same angles of sociopathy) is true, no question.
Luckily, our selfish drive to get back to the comfy and unassuming does tend to result in…headaches for the other, less integrating members of the worst of humanity class.
We’re outnumbered though and can’t tell precisely when it’s time to stop trying to feign along and go dispassionately tear apart the obstacles standing between us quietly living in the metaphorically cave near the village and basking in the sounds of a happy society whose periphery is all we need to get by.

They’re not compatible, under the current paradigms. You’re not wrong, imo.
But neither is the commenter you’re replying to.
It ain’t going away, and as it is (in every respect from function to marketing to access) ‘AI’ is currently absolutely poisonous for mental development, no matter the age.
But that’s not inherently married to the way it will always be used.
Imo, the ban should be in place all the way in K-12, for no less than 5 years, and some resources devoted to enable school districts to engage the necessary mechanisms to assess how to marry the use of AI technology into educational use, with an actual thorough process in place to assess how and if it can be done in a manner beneficial to educational goals.
It’s not enough to have a techbro declare it the best thing in the world for learning, a child development psychologist declare it the worst thing to exist, and an education expert sitting between them looking anguished.
They need to all be locked in the same room, metaphorically speaking, and honestly arrive at a form that is meaningfully impactful to student outcomes (if one can be found), before it’s something that schools should attempt to use within the curriculum.
This post is cursed.
Not because of the insane jank, of course. That’s on brand for self host and I love it.
It is cursed because it has awakened something in me, and I can feel every old laptop in my vicinity trembling in fear.

These ones?
We uh, can’t.
Not in the timescale that matters to us, with the resources and technological development available at hand.
But generally speaking?
You would need to introduce a different, runaway feedback loop that modifies/cancels/counters the first.
Like fungi did when they learned to eat lignin, or cyanobacteria introduced when they started spitting out that horrible and nasty O2.
Time and scale are what will do us in.
We just didn’t pace ourselves at all, societally speaking.
Weren’t able to build the chemistry and engineering tools needed to meaningfully expand the scope of the system beyond our planet to access any other resources or solutions beyond it…
And still cannot agree to any meaningful planet side changes that might even remotely allow for later pipedreams, because they need to happen now.
The Futurama ice cube joke is funny, but we can’t even attempt anything half as harebrained on a fraction of that scale.

Could we build an AI network to fight this?
There’s a reason why some very bright people in tech with decades of experience aren’t dismissing AI whole cloth.
The dangers are vast. The social harm is a real effect. The brain atrophy is an actual pitfall to be avoided, even at the cost of tying yourself to the metaphorical ship mast.
But the possibilities are also real, else they wouldn’t be using them against us.
The hatred is fine and all, but I really really wish the kind of people who frequent the Fediverse and spouted all of the encouraging anti-establishment stances…also minded their basic Sun Tzu:
If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.

It absolutely is.
I was gonna block but now I’m curious because the comments and posts it’s made don’t make the goal clear yet.
So time to make a shot drinking game: Troll, PsyOp, Good intentioned but weird social experiment from the good comrades, bad intentioned but weird social experiment from the bad comrades, or Corpo Intrusion?
I love the Fediverse.

… Wouldn’t that then mean that every single US company would have an avenue to sue the US government for “negligence” in the handling of the Strait causing disruption?

Ocean is too tired to hold in extra Co2, and far too blue and not white anymore where it matters either.
The commenter you replied to, basically described basic human-ing for you, and why it works and has always worked, in the past.
Your rebuttal is focused on…the Internet as an object of stagnant sociocultural jamming, is that right? I think that was the gist.
I won’t engage that directly at the moment, as it could just as easily be insight with poor communication skills behind it, as it could be a strange conspiracy theory, as it could be propaganda meant to deflate and discourage.
All equally plausible places to come from, because you keep repeating the same bits and not going deeper.
What is a low effort-high effect action you believe we should be taking?
On the same token, if your tactics to achieve a strategy which you’ve yet to share are sound…what are high effort and low effect actions we can force the opposition into making?
