fucking surreal, kudos to the medical team who did this

that is thousands of FBI man hours wasted for you lol

Yea it is like a litmus paper for psychopathy. “Here have some donuts to excuse the fact that I have been fucking up your peace for the last decade or so”. Guy probably saw some parents handing candies in an airplane because their kid cried a lot and thought it applied to his case.

Perhaps “entirely because of taste” is an over statement. It is in reality probably a mixture of freshness and taste, the former being related both to food safety and taste. Nevertheless, living in a world of sea food abundance (and others), if you can not prepare a certain item of food safely without torturing an animal and yet still do it, then you are not doing this for survival but ultimately validating a tortorous means of cooking as a means to reach a certain pleasure. I myself, despite not eating lobsters, lambs, goose liver etc for this very reason, still for instance consume eggs knowing that chicken farms can practice male chick culling where I live. So it is not my intention to point fingers at anyone but just pointing out some observations and some of my inner contradictions on this issue.

Lobsters (probably) don’t understand the concept of other animals feeling pain but we can. Lobsters don’t have any other more merciful methods/tools in their disposal for survival whereas humans do this entirely because “it is more delicious that way”. This is the right context.
Even the comparison “lesser of two evils” is not in the right context because it becomes more evil to the degree that you understand the other side’s suffering.

this is just cancer trying to do its job and spread. Should be cauterized.

that was my impression as well, they probably discovered after some back and forth with the robot that its directives included compliance with capitalist market perspective and what not

Yea yea got it, US geography is all nice and that but I am not trying to visit there until there is zero chance of getting detained by ICE or border control “because of reasons”.

title sounds like Trump invested in something and lost but actually this was a grift for Trump to steal money from idiots

The question is more the following: can we trust them to use the information available to them honestly or are they more likely to distort or hide facts if it aligns more with their interests. If the latter is a common situation, then that is not an insane take.

The problem is that most people don’t trust them to actually inform goverments with their well-informed opinion but with their interests in mind. And if that is a reasonable point of view, then whether or not they have a well-informed opinion becomes irrelevant.

So we should also trust health insurance companies’ CEOs’ ideas about how health care should be structured? If they are likely to put their company’s interest above anything else, then this is a very valid question. And big corporations are notorious for doing exactly this.

I mean it is not unimaginable that someone with low moral standards may be exaggerating the risks involved to fear monger governments etc to work with them. It is a general distrust of big corporations that make people here skeptical. If companies like meta, google, tesla etc have no reservations about doing extremely shitty and dodgy things and also able to come out of those with net positive effects, why wouldn’t this guy? When someone says “corporations should not set defense policy”, they don’t actually mean setting it on a governmental level. What they mean is that they should not even be able to inform policies because they are likely putting their interest above other ethical considerations.

I mean it is awkward that he seems to be apologizing for a very serious allegation but his apology sounds not too different from “sorry I was 15 minutes lates to class. welp lets continue”. I agree this should have been resolved on the university level but this guy likely brings shit tons of money to the department through his connections and we have all seen with Trump adminstration how board of directors behave when threatened with funding cuts.

What is to be expected when the current trend among CEOs is to get the same stuff done with less employees and same salaries hence resulting in either you getting fired, resigning or doing x2 the amount of work with no real life improvements. Who would have the willingness to continue their side hobbies/project like contributions to open source when your main life is in shambles.

Lets not forget the part where he asks advice from Epstein on how to romantically approach one of his mentees.
I don’t think he feels any remorse, he is just trying to strategically minimise his losses by giving the appropriate soulless responses. Anyone with a drop of conscience and respect for their students would have permanently resigned from teaching.

it was a nice video thanks

Way to downplay being ok with child sexual abuse and human trafficking.
