  • Pétanque, a game similar to boules, has been popular here since the French introduced it in the former colony. But children often see the round, metal cluster munitions and mistake them for lost pétanque balls. “Many children pick up bombies thinking they’re toys, we hear this a lot,” says Ket. It’s why awareness and education programmes are as important as the land clearance operations, she adds.

    Fucking hell.

Still, aid to clean up the UXOs pales in comparison to the cost of the bombardment – in 2023 dollars, the US spent $16 million every day bombing Laos for nine years. According to Legacies of War, funding to decontaminate now stands at just $45 million per year.

    (16)(365)(9) = 52,560 million or 52.56 billion. 0.045/52.56 = 0.086%

  • I sure hope so, Melvin.

Moss also detailed the many threats made against her by Trump supporters, noting that they were told they should “hang for committing treason.” According to Moss, people went to her grandmother’s home and attempted to “burst down the door and conduct a citizen’s arrest of my mom and me.”

One of Giuliani’s false accusations included a claim that Moss handed her mother a thumb drive “like they were vials of heroin or cocaine” as the two worked at the State Farm Arena for the Fulton County Board of Elections in 2020. In reality, Moss has said her mother had just handed her a ginger mint.

I hope they nail him to the wall.

  • I’m with you. I’ve wanted more players, larger maps, and less emphasis on graphics (cause they’ve been pretty good) for awhile now. I think back on games that were fun and addictive: they weren’t pretty but blocky. Yet it didn’t matter.

Contemporary graphics are amazing, I admit. I also find it difficult to put a release date on any games from the last 5-8 years. They look pretty similar in graphics to my eye.

Am I wrong for being willing to sacrifice some graphic sophistication for the sake of say a 128v128 game in a destructible environment?

  • Now you’re talkin!

At the deployment site, a remotely operated vehicle retrieved a cable containing the fiber optic and power wiring from the seafloor and brought it to the surface where it was checked and attached to the datacenter, and the datacenter powered on.

Sadly, it sounds like power is coming from the shore.

Underwater datacenters could also serve as anchor tenants for marine renewable energy such as offshore wind farms or banks of tidal turbines, allowing the two industries to evolve in lockstep.

But I think this is their plan for energy in the future.
