Those polling places are not worth the ashes anyway. I can understand why people set fire to them. They are an insult to every russian who has not completly gelatinized his brain with state TV.

You have to read this again and again. The King does not want the reforms the poeple voted for democratically. Why even have democratic votes if in the end a king (in tank tops) will dissolve the democratic voted party.

True, as it says in the wikipedia I linked. But is has nothing do to with the 787. This could happen to any plane and in fact does happen on many planes in the past and future. A drop because of airpocket and turbulence are very common.

Trump was a wakeup call for me back then. As a teenager in the 90s I always thought that the US has a robust democratic system with a strong militaristic core/underbelly/deepstate that would never compromise the stand of the US. I thought that some three letter agency would always have a plan for everything already drawn up and that action behind the scenes would be taken to ensure the stability and actionability of the states by always being one step ahead of the adversary. For the first Trump year I thought it would be a controlled trick of one of the agencies to trick china/russia into a trap. It must be. The US killed people in other countries around the world to make the US get out on top. No way that bought ads on Facebook can get unrecognized by these agencies to subvert millions.

My worldview about the US today is absolutely shattered. I do not believe that any three letter agency in the US is capable of steering or controlling anything. That Russia and China are able to influence so many people without any agency confronting these efforts was a wake up call for me. And that there is a chance that trump might have a second term is downright devastating for my assurance in the US. As a child I thought about moving to the US one day. I would have taken the risk of getting shot or struggling with bad healthcare. But now that the believe in the protective stable leading system is gone… what is left? Unleashed capitalism and rampant racism? I can find this everywhere in the world.

My personal american dream is long over.

I can only see three incidents with 787 on wikipedia:

• 2013 Boeing 787 Dreamliner grounding
• 2024 TCAS incident over Somalia
• LATAM Airlines Flight 800

This does not looks like a repeating pattern. The Flight 800 was a 300ft drop midair with around 30 to 40 people hitting the ceiling of the cabin and landing in Auckland without further problems. This does not sound 787 related. Just keep your seatbelts on.

The 2024 TCAS incident reads like a near collision based on miscommunication by air traffic control. Not related to the 787 series.

And well the 2013 787 grounding was based on lithium-ion batteries problems and has now been fixed (?).

I would say relax and keep your seatbelts buckled (disregarding what airframe you are on).

If it were not the country of the people, putin and every other autocrat would not bother bending back over to supress the voice of people. It is his biggest fear that the people recognize their power and stand up. Many reports described how putin reacted visually shocked while seeing the pictures of Muammar Gaddafis body getting dragged through the streets during the revolution in Libya. He knows that he is on a constant edge of being toppled as a dictator and that the hounds are waiting behind the door.

Putin does in Ukraine what he does to his own people: Show endurance to imitate strength. Protest in Russia are cleared out after two days max. And that is a weak optic for the protests. Imagine people would come out with aggressive force and would show durability and destruction for days no matter how hard he tries to crack down and no matter how many people getting killed. The whole thing would slip away. We can not stop and give up in Ukraine, as that is what putin wants and how the citizens of russia are kept in check: double down.

I can imagine a world from 1917, where the russian people get back an idea of hope and their ability to take back control. A world, where they throw molotov cocktails at the Kremlin, do not bow down when they see their brothers blood in the streets and dragging putins useless corpse over the red square. That would be a horror-show for every authoritarian leader in the world. It’s possible, but russians (of course) are hesitant to fight for a country, that they themself see no future in as it was talked out of them over and over and over… Who would fight for a country when your hope and dreams were systematically eradicated for decades until nothing is left other then submission.

But still, it is their country. Their (in)action controls the outcome of their country. What was won letting the blood of 400.000+ run down the Dnieper in Ukraine, when the same blood could have run down the Moskva River at home, while the later would be a total change for every russian, their children and grandchildren: 400K men die for nothing vs. 400K die at home for something.

The last time they toppled their leader was over 100 years ago, and it was only downhill from there. Everyone who was smart left already. The smart ones who stayed and were stupid enough to open their mouth got into a gulag. Everyone who talked about these people getting jailed up, was also jailed up. Thousands died. Million live above the bare minimum. There is no progression. No public discourse where to go. No idea what they could change, no perseverance to try out anything. Russia is a empty shell of disillusioned people, where nobody trust anyone and people dont want to talk their mind to not get in trouble. It is fake, empty, oppressed and a like minded simmering of the same lies over and over.

It is a hazardous place for any socially or human development.

Russia will use this as propaganda. Putins second favorite slander about the west (right after everyone is a homosexual) is talking about all the addiction and drugs people take in the west and how this is wrecking the social fabric in the west. Of course he leaves out the part where a vast amounbt of russian man have a serious alcohol addiction.

Allowing cannabis for medical use is actually a good thing and is a show of progression. And there are twenty-somethings in russia too, who wish they could have this ability aswell as they get locked up for using it. But sadly, Putin can not grant it, as it would be a 180 on his previous hate talks and he is too thinly skinned that he could ever openly admit that he changed his mind on things like that. So he continues to lie, continues to ban and suppress and will use this development in Ukraine to spew the most heinous shit about this. He is after all a weak and pity man.
