Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Ukraine should be allowed to strike deep inside Russia

These are not the same statements.

Why are people who joined on another instance only 30 minutes ago allowed to post? Seems like a fix is in order.

That’s the argument made on one of the interviews in a sky news video on this. That Russia is making their troops “zero” surrendering Ukrainians to ensure they, the russians, won’t surrender in the future.

Because they already made surrendering impossible by murdering Ukrainians.

The countermeasure is to bury them with large bulldozers, but this still forces an insurgent army to cross within a focused area, as opposed to anywhere along the border. They buy time, advanced warning, and restrict enemy maneuverability.

I think everyone has the right to shoot down everyone’s missiles. Beyond that… I make no arguments.

I wonder if these are related.

I don’t see this as a requirement to “tolerate intolerance”. I see this as an explanation of why we’re seeing the results we do. I’ve always had a kind of feeling that the extreme resurgence of the right is a hard reaction to the specific reforms of the left. The more reform, the more angst and reaction. It’s just nice to know this “feeling” has a name, and a proper theory.

Basically, the more social woes we fix, the more conservatives get pissed. Like they need time to adjust to their new reality or something.

So our options are: Pick and choose priorities, and slow it down, or face the right’s backlash, populism, and calls to arms, risking political turnover. This is not arguing appeasement. Just explaining their behavior, and the choices the left needs to make in how they govern. I.e., Slow and steady, or risky business.

Finally, I don’t think the right will ever stop trying to pull us towards The Handmaidens Tale, but given time to adjust to significant societal changes, their base becomes less charged and the backlash is less severe. See: Abortion rights.

After the attack on Kyiv’s Ochmatdyt Children’s Hospital, an appalled Russian pilot decided to betray his now-former comrades, Ukrainska Pravda reported.

The man provided Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR) details that helped identify 30 commanders from the Russian heavy bomber division.

Among the information shared were documents from the personal files of senior officers, personal data of Russian military personnel and their families, and most critically, stamped documents from the 22nd Division.

HUR received names and photographs of the commanders in this unit.

Russian forces launched 38 missiles at Ukraine on Monday, eight of which could not be intercepted. The missiles hit civilian targets, including residential buildings and two medical facilities, one of which was the Ochmatdyt Children’s Hospital.

This is the largest pediatric hospital in Ukraine, treating some of the most seriously ill children, including oncology patients.

The Russian attacks on Monday resulted in over 40 fatalities across Ukraine.
