I pay Bitwarden the tenner a year as I have no reason to distrust them and they’re definitely providing a more reliable, securer service than I can self-host.
I also do an encrypted export once per week and store that export to an encrypted cloud based service and an encrypted USB stick. Takes 2 minutes.
Bandcamp is still OK for me and I listen to some fairly obscure stuff.
Just to offer a heads up - there’s a new solution/site which is currently in Beta but is backed by good people (musicians). It needs an influx of music diversity (lots of metal at the moment) but if it gets that when it comes out of beta then it could very well be a good Bandcamp replacament - Ampwall
We do tell people. For example, when you get off the train at Reading station it clearly says “Welcome to Reading”.

Whereas the true insanity is to let people get away with openly inciting race hate which leads to life threatening real-world consequences for the people on the receiving end of the lies.
Absolute free speech is the refuge of those without the common sense and maturity to realise it has led to deaths. It is entirely appropriate to legislate for those who want, or encourage, life threatening harm to come to others.

There was a news article a day or two ago about a pensioner vandalising a statue of Thatcher. I feel the same way about this act as I did that - good on the perpetrator.
Unless a work of art is housed somewhere meant to cause reflection on all the actions a person took in their full context which includes making clear the problematic acts of the subject, they shouldn’t be somewhere clearly meant to commemorate them. And if they are, then they’re fair game.

Here’s a map from the BBC, the area ‘Wadi Gaza’ is one of the areas the IDF told Palestinian’s to flee to - Dr Matar’s hospital (Martyr’s) is in that area.
Yeah, just look at the areas the IDF told people to flee to and you’ll see Marat’s hospital is there.
Tell Palestinians to flee to certain areas? Yeah. NPR reported it, BBC reported it, CBS reported it, Al-Jazeera reported it, CNN reported it.
The BBC quote Dr Ebrahem Matar, a heart specialist in the intensive care unit at the Aqsa Martyrs’ hospital - the only medical centre in the middle area of the Gaza Strip.
"Dr Matar said there was only one operating room and limited number of staff.
"'It is catastrophic and it is difficult. We see patients deteriorate due to the continuous pain and the continuous resistant infections.
“The hospital is in one of the areas the Israeli army has told Palestinians to flee to.'”
EDIT: It looks like this is a different hospital Dr Matar was talking about. I’ll update my other comment too.
Until a reliable, independent news agency verifies it, any claim from either side should be viewed as misleading. It’s also worth noting that it’s not just Hamas denying this, it’s also the facility itself. Here’s part of a report from one of the BBC correspondents in Gaza:
"Israel has accused Hamas of having a command and control centre underneath Shifa - which the group denies.
I have been to the hospital hundreds of time - I was born there, my son was born there, in the last two months of my mum’s life, she was inside the kidney dialysis centre and I used to visit her every day.
It is very hard to verify what is underneath. With my eyes, I haven’t seen any military capability inside the hospital buildings."
Lastly, consider the fact that this hospital is in one of the places the IDF instructed Palestinians to flee to . Are we now saying that the IDF were purposefully trying to place Palestinians in danger by telling them to go to a location where they knew Hamas operated from?

Thanks to the one person who actually posted something on topic I’ve found a few things I can modify.
I asked for help in a self-hosting community. How could my desired location be misunderstood by anyone with an IQ above 10?
This little side -journey has been a complete waste of time. All I wanted was a recommendation or two relevant to things I needed which I clearly explained in my post. Instead I got told I was making no sense and should use third party solutions which is a remarkable thing to read in a self hosting community where I would assume most people realise others want y’know to self host.
If people don’t have relevant recommendations they could’ve just said that or even better, say nothing.
And it’ll stay that way until people use, and keep using, this space. So, to use an overused phrase, be the change you want to see :)
