Free and Open Source Software@beehaw.org•SmartTube's signature has been compromised, possible injected malicious library found by some usersEnglish
5·2 months agoI loved SmartTube, but I moved away from my Android TV when Google started saying they are not going to allow side loading apps. Google has walked back that policy a bit, but I am much happier now with my alternatives and the knowledge that Google can’t wreck them with their future bull shit.
That said SmartTube is a goat and it is sad to hear that such a great app has been compromised like this.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•U.S. ready to cut support to Scouts, accusing them of attacking 'boy-friendly spaces'English
224·2 months agoI was a Scout and I never had leaders that were inappropriate thank god, but you best believe that it was basically grooming you for the army. The amount of religious stuff they shove down your throats too, I think we can do better than the Scouts for kids. Let it die

Uplifting News@lemmy.world•New Canada Strong Pass offers discounts on parks, museums, camping and train travelEnglish
1·8 months agoThe Via rail thing is interesting. I heard travel times are a mess, but free for my kids. Might be enticing.
Great game. I played the heck out of it when it came out and go back from time to time. The DLC is really great too. Like a whole other game with a seperate map and story. They also give you a buggy to drive and personalise. Awesome to run over zombies
So I checked the config for the external drive again and discovered when it was remounted it had added a, “1” to the end of the drive name. I went back into the .env and changed the library location to reflect this. Restarted docker and it is now connecting again. Obviously it is not ideal to be using a external HDD, but I wanted to test immich out for a while before investing into a bigger self hosting rig for all my services.
Ultimately problem solved though
Drive was just connected with USB to mini PC so it was also unplugged and I had to remount it to the PC. I looked in the .env file and the path still looked good. I had considered this was an issue too. I figured that restarting docker with the drive properly mounted would fix this though. Still getting, “connection was reset,” though

Uplifting News@lemmy.world•Lack Of Interest In The PS5 Pro Is Forcing Scalpers To Sell Them For A LossEnglish
9·1 year agoI heard they were lowering manufacturing for the Pro because they were anticipating lower interest so then they could still say that the Pro model sold out despite the criticism. Hopefully it so grossly under performs the Sony sees the errors of their ways.
The damage Sony and Microsoft have done to console gaming is showing. More people getting driven to PC everyday. I had only consoles my whole life, but the steam deck showed me that my next gaming machine will be a PC.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Why is replacement for home device controls so complicated?English
71·2 years agoIt doesn’t take much to run home assistant. I just have a raspberry pi going and it never fails. I plan to upgrade it to something more powerful in the future, but for now it is more than capable of running home assistant for me with no issues.

I was thinking of something similar. Especially since the SSD is not doing much beyond running the True Nas OS. So splitting that between a HDD does not feel like it would push things that much more
