They do so because of perverse incentives. They socialize the costs and privatize the gains. This is a fundamental design flaw of Capitalism and in turn Corporations.


Individual action won’t fix systemic issues like major polluters being almost exclusively from industry but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take the suggested actions in any case. Just don’t fool yourself that it is enough.


What? And stop indiscriminately slaughtering babies? You monster!


The product doesn’t deliver on it’s promise though. It’s going to crash and burn real hard and we will be left holding the bag as usual.
This is a bit of a cop out though. At the moment a very small number of humans do a very large amount of the harm because there is no cost to doing so.
