Running a poll for this on birdsite: https://x.com/theshittinator/status/1997182340561265031
The TL;DR: We have two UIs:
-
https://forum.guncadindex.com/ - Lemmy-UI. This is the default UI that ships with Lemmy with a custom theme slapped on top of it.
-
https://p.forum.guncadindex.com/ - Photon. This UI is slick, but it’s missing a couple admin features (which isn’t a big deal) and had a bug when we first deployed it where new user signups would erroneously get a “token validation error” or something. I don’t know if they’ve fixed it.
The question I want you guys to answer is: Which do you prefer? I assume most people think Photon is slicker, but I could be mistaken.
If most people like Photon, I might give it a shot in the limelight again to see if they’ve fixed that bug yet.
photon looks leagues better than lemmy ngl
I’d love to be rid of lemmy-ui, won’t lie.
Agree
Photon for sure. But on mobile im using Summit, which has its own sleek look. So not a huge deal if the lemmy ui stays.
Photon 10x over.
Photon for sure looks nicer, but im on the boost app so it doesn’t matter to me lol.
Personally i think guncadindex and fosscad.io should use mlmym for lemmy to really bring back that reddit like ui without the reddit bullshit.
+1 for mlmym, can’t beat that classic reddit look. If possible, set mlmym as the default for desktop browsers and photon for mobile browsers
Photon. But the search is better in LemmyUI
Like the interface is better or you get more relevant results?
Search in the Photon do not allow to limit search by community/instance.
i have been using photon.
photon for sure
Photon
If you get photon working + cozy view = no reason to use reddit anymore, it’s practically the same visual appearance. The community will anyway shift here, as there is more and more signs that 3d2a will get banned on all public platforms…
I like 2
Rocking photon currently
Photon looks great but thumbnail quality looks micro…
How do we get photon? The only thing I know of is lemmy lol!
Go here: https://p.forum.guncadindex.com/
It’s just another web interface for the same Lemmy system. Like how you can access your email through Outlook or Thunderbird or whatever else.
