Richard Ayoade has a very distinct voice for Two Boots, and it’s slightly distracting but I don’t hate it, I just expect him to be doing IT support. Dennis Haysbert is recognizable as well, but he’s well suited to playing a Master Jedi. Sam Witwer continues to be great as Maul.

For a character that was originally conceived as so one-dimensional, Maul really has become one of the more intriguing dark Jedi. He clearly embraces being a bad guy, but he seems to have a rather nuanced take on morality.

So far, it seems pretty interesting. A simple tale of revenge seems to be just the backdrop of a richer story, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there is more to it. I’m looking forward to seeing his relationship with Devon.

Re: Richard Ayoade, I watched a video that pointed out that he also voiced “Q9-0” on Mando during the season 1 prison break episode. In universe it makes sense that droids would be fairly standard, so reusing their voices is reasonable. But I don’t think we’ve ever actually seen that. All the battle droids have the same voice, but cross droids and often within the same class they have unique voices.

As for the Maul story, given what we know in Rebels, he is still open to the idea of an apprentice and he still wants to destroy the Sith (well, Darth Sidious specifically).

And actually to be highly speculative, I just rewatched the Rebels season finale where we first meet Maul again after Clone Wars, but now will be when we first meet Maul again after this series.

The Inquisitors call Maul the “shadow” and are surprised to find he actually exists. So any Inquisitors who might run into him in this series will likely perish before telling any other Inquisitors. But they do seem to know he probably exists, because that’s who they’re hunting.

But also, Maul knows who Vader is and knows he can’t defeat him alone. Which means Vader might meet up with Maul at some point in this show. When the Inquisitors call for backup in Rebels they don’t just call for Inquisitor backup, they call for Vader backup. So Vader might have a score to settle.

The finale for this series may be Maul getting demolished by Vader, but finding a way to sneak away once again.

I’m curious to see where things go with the cop. He has a complicated relationship with his son, and with the Empire. Both of those are going to lead to conflicts for him. Sometimes I find the ordinary folks in Star Wars to be some of the most interesting. I have a feeling Rylee are Devon are going to meet at some point, as they both have issues with their father figures.
