Someone more up with the drama - what did he do exactly? From what I gathered - he organized the tour with artists who were going to do it (the speech), he never protested it, didn’t say anything to Macklemore, allowed all to happen, even came out with a pro-palestine statement, but everyone here is seemingly acting like he was the one who did all the pushback.

Sure, could have a bigger spine, but I don’t quite see what he did so wrong he deserves amongst the biggest hate waves I’ve seen online.

Would it have been better for him and Palestine to never have organized this so that it never have happened? Do you seriously think what happened was a direct harm to Palestine by Ed?

What pro palestine statement? The one where he said he didn’t want to take any sides, and by doing so, took the side of non resistance, supporting Israel in their genocide?

He decided money is more important than supporting an anti-genocidal message. He’s got every right to do so, but everyone else has got every right to call him a fucking pussy who doesn’t have the balls to stand up against a venue boycutting his long time friend because of a few anti-genocide opinions. The venue he ended up siding with had no problem having Kanye West praise Hitler on stage a year or so ago. So do you see why this makes Ed a fucking wanker?

        What? No.

Even the artists who dropped out made it quite clear Ed is not at fault. He organized the thing for fucks sake.

So do you see why this makes Ed a fucking wanker?

No, I don’t. Just because he isn’t the type of person to attack others, protest loudly, make drama or burn shit down, does not, at least to me, mean he’s a wanker. He did everything to the best of his abilities and you really need to understand what this sentence means

I am appalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine,” he wrote in the first of several bullet-point statements. “The suffering and pain caused on both sides is a human tragedy.

He’s both-siding this shit ffs. Palestinians are being murdered in a genocide, and this prick is like “Yea, but like, israelis are really having a hard time too”

Yes, the good Israelis are getting punished for speaking out too. NAZA documentary authors (who are from Israel) are also under fire now.

Of course, the comparison between suffering seems silly, I’ll give you that.

So just to be clear, the hate is not about what he did, but what he could have done better? The only option for him was to cancel the tour and pay a cancellation fee of around 70 million (10 shows).

Dude organized the whole thing, it naturally received pushback, naturally billionaires did their ultimatums, and now Ed is getting absurd amount of hate because he chose not to pay them 70 million but rather just finish the thing?

Yeah, I still don’t quite get it.

I guess the best option here for everyone would have been to avoid any pro-Palestine artists and it should have been a smooth ride for him, with no hate-wave that’s happening right now.

So you’re then inevitably saying he made the right choice, but simply isn’t the person to yell at others or burn shit down, yet we expect him to, and that’s why we hate him(?)

              No.

              1. Supporting the Palestinians is the right choice.

              2. Supporting people supporting the Palestinians is right but to a lesser degree.

              3. Not supporting people supporting the Palestinians is wrong.

              4. Not supporting the Palestinians is wrong to a greater degree.

He could have done anything to fight back, have the lawyers make an argument kraft broke the deal by firing macklemore, so sheeran wouldn’t be liable. Go on stage and maliciously comply with the performance.

I guess you have a point i dont really know the details, did he hire replacement backups?

Maybe if he goes on stage alone and even says “hey i have to do this show or else i owe $70M” then does an uninspired solo acoustic performance, that would be quite admirable.

I guess as far as i know, and happy to be corrected, he got replacements and still does the shows as best he can, which really is the most cowardly thing he could do in the situation.

Knowing Ed, he already did enough by organizing the tour which ended up bringing attention to the cause. I expect nothing more of him. Therefore I cannot hate something that’s fully expectable and normal. What he did was better than not doing anything, and now we (well, you) all hate him for it lmao

The more I think about it, the more fucked up this is. Straight up bullying.

So he organized a tour so that his zionist patrons can make more money, and when they fired the pro-Palestinian musicians that redeemed his capitalist musical tour for zionist profit, he said OK and moved on with the tour.
