I get around 5 deliveries a week on average and maybe a dozen on a heavy week, and I have never had a reason to get my phone involved. The package is either delivered successfully, or I can see from the seller there was an issue, and I deal with them. A few times the delivery service has left a note and I’ve called them. Why are folks even bothering to allow text messages for deliveries?
I agree. I aggressively abstain from devices that can spy on me. But the pressure to cave mounts more and more as the monopolies do their best to leave us no choice. I don’t think I could buy a new car that does not use the cell network to transmit all my data back to the manufacture for example. Even when it comes to just basic activities like going to a sporting event or booking a campsite I’m often forced to either use my phone not go at all.
