I’ve got a VSKA that is absolutely hammered dogshit and I’d like to convert it into a Plastikov build. I know nothing about AK-style rifles, so I was hoping for a little advice. Would the Plastikov v3 work to replace the furniture on the VSKA? Or, is there a better option out there? I’m willing to strip the parts from this thing to do something with it.
I suppose what I’m looking to do is replace the furniture/rail with something that can accept picatinny attachments. Again, I’m unfamiliar with the AKM so I have no idea what can realistically be replaced.
If you’re wanting an optic up front of the rear sight the ultimak will probably be your best bet. Any standard railed handguard will not hold zero. AKM pattern is the most common and a lot of the handguards out there will fit it. Anything Yugo, Serbian, krink, etc won’t fit.
Another red dot option is the Attero mount that replaces the rear sight leaf. I have five of these and all have held up for years.

There are some ultimak gas tubes that give you a pic rail it’s a 1-1 swap with the normal gas tube. Made of aluminum and they clamp directly to the barrel. Not sure of any printed options. If you’re willing to cad you could slap some rails on Ivan’s dong.
