I know there’s several posts regarding cans but I haven’t found too much about submitting for SBR. Is there a guide anywhere or does anyone have some tips? I did a can submission on 1/9 and still waiting but I’m getting impatient and would like to submit several more cans/sbrs
Are you gonna print the SBR? If so, you do the exact same thing as you would for a can except you flip the dropdown from “SUPPRESSOR” to “SHORT-BARRELED RIFLE”. Set the cal to its primary caliber – “multi” isn’t an option.
Yes I want to print them. Totally forgot to say that in the post. Was hoping to get some examples of what folks have used for the verbiage and photos
Here’s my SBR DeAR:

This, plus a screenshot of a spool from Amazon under materials with the description “PA6 TO BE ACQUIRED”:

This came back approved with comment (for 27 CFR 479.102).
FWIW I now have multiple approved form 1s with just a word document that says “rifle has not yet been manufactured, upon approval rifle will be manufactured and required markings will be engraved into the frame”
So for the photos did you just upload pictures of filament? Do you remember how you described it? The page where it makes you choose sbr / caliber / serial # etc
For a printed SBR I literally uploaded only a word document with those words and nothing else.
With ATF frequently the less info you give is better.
I Did this exact same thing for 4 now approved SBR’s. A DB Alloy, FGC-9, Yippee Ki Yay mp5 and The Stavka 90. The process is actually way easier then I ever imagined
Quite a few designs are already approved. If what you want is in the dropdown list, you don’t need much for documentation. I form 1’d a DB9-22 and just put in the description that it was the same lower as the DB9 Alloy (already in the approved list) but with a 22LR upper receiver and barrel. I included a rendering of the lower with an arrow showing where I would put the registration info and that was good enough for a 10 day approval.
You’ll need to specify the barrel length and overall length. Don’t end up shorter that what is on the form. There is some variation on the process between building a SBR from scratch and manufacturing a SBR from an already existing serialized firearm.
It’ll ask for photos.
Any existing SN should be clear, the eform will tell you what it needs to show.
That didn’t apply to me, so I used the same generic filament picture for cans on a few. Still waiting, but I was late to the party.
I guess I should have been more specific. I plan to print the lowers. Just wasn’t sure if anyone had examples of accepted verbiage or pictures they used
I used the generic filament picture.
A few descriptions, most started that materials will be acquired and manufacturing will occur after approval of form 1
