firstly please understand the difference between a proposed bill and something that is actually gaining traction. as you become more involved you find out that the knee-jerk bills are to just to catch votes in the next cycle; which is dumb af bc the loud voices will have moved on by then.

“Manufacturer Mandates: Proposed laws would require 3D printer manufacturers to include Digital Rights Management (DRM) or “firearms blueprint detection algorithms” in their firmware to automatically block the printing of illegal gun parts.”

yeah they can’t do that, interstate law, international law, etc. what they CAN do is just ban the sale and shipment of 3d printers to the state of washington. good luck with that.

They can try. It will likely be struck down, and then appealed all the way up. Exceptions to the 1st amendment are something that gets argued all the way up to the Supreme Court in pretty much all cases. And you have to prove that whatever is being excepted is causing direct harm or is inciting lawless action or violence.

I’d expect the court arguments to be claiming all three. Which would then amount to years of court arguments all the way up, because debating the merits of each argument individually won’t be a quick process.

Curious, is this why you took down your MK R(evival) Beta(ish) files for the MK IV?
