For all of those who have used this filament for lowers, I was hoping you could share your experience and if it is in fact worth it for long term parts. I’m currently working on the 3dp90 and plan on messing around with either the LR 308 or the ORCA. I’m leaning towards the PPA-CF core for the aesthetics and strength/ layer adhesion. Pictures and information would be appreciated!
I use ppa-cf all the time and I’ve also used core ppa-cf. You’re better off not using the core.
what makes you say that? The finish, troubles printing, etc…?
It’s good for adhesion, but it sucks for rigidity. I’ve had several core -cf parts fail and not a single ppa-cf .
How are the parts failing as a function of rigidity?
If you can print at 310°C to 320°C then you really won’t see much (if any) benefit from Core. None of the independent tests I’ve seen found enough difference to make it worth the reduced stiffness and extra cost. These days, if I want insanely strong parts I print Siraya PPA-CF at 310°C (in heated chamber) with a 0.6mm nozzle and 0.3mm layer height.
